Àltima inaugurates the first funeral home in Llançà
Llançà, May 2, 2018.- Àltima Funerary Services has completed the construction of its funeral home in Llançà, located at 1 Portbou Road. The new facility is expected to start operations next week, following an open house event on Saturday, May 5, from 12 to 2 pm and 5 to 7 pm. This event aims to introduce the premises and services of the funeral home to the residents of Llançà. The inauguration will be attended by Mr. Pere Vila i Fulcarà, mayor of Llançà and president of the Girona Provincial Council, Mr. Jordi Viñas, Àltima's General Director of Works and Expansion, and Mr. Paco Muñoz, the company's manager in Alt Empordà, along with other members of the local council and executives from the funeral company.
According to the Mayor of Llançà, “The funeral home will address an existing need, as it will provide a local funeral service and allow our residents to hold viewings within the municipality, without having to rely on transportation to other towns.” The new facility is located just 350 meters from the Ximblars Municipal Cemetery and 750 meters from Llançà's historic center. As Mr. Jordi Viñas, General Director of Works and Expansion at Àltima, states, “The Llançà Funeral Home will provide a service much more tailored to everyone’s needs, with the highest quality guarantees, both in terms of the facility itself, designed to be as comfortable as possible for families, and the funeral service.” In addition to Llançà, the new facility will mainly serve other municipalities in the North Costa Brava, such as Colera, Portbou, El Port de la Selva, and La Selva de Mar, and will also be available to nearby towns if requested by residents. Àltima has invested 250,000 euros in the construction of the Llançà Funeral Home.
The new Llançà facility complements the funeral home and crematorium managed by Àltima in Figueres, located at 1 Greece Street (Industrial Park Recinte Firal), which serves as the company's headquarters in Alt Empordà. In this region, the company provides services to 68 municipalities. In the province of Girona, Àltima is also present in the Ripollès region, where it manages the Ripoll Funeral Home and Crematorium. Across Catalonia, the company operates a total of 31 funeral homes, seven crematoria, and 19 cemeteries, primarily in the provinces of Barcelona and Girona.
Llançà Funeral Home: Accessible and Functional
The new Àltima funeral home in Llançà is a 238-square-meter standalone building with direct exterior access from the public road, located on the ground floor. It features a fully equipped viewing room with its own amenities—locker room, refrigerator, coffee maker—and a multi-confessional chapel with a capacity for 60 people, as well as a reception area and facilities for personalized family support. The building also includes an interior parking lot for 11 vehicles.
In constructing the Llançà Funeral Home, led by Javier Lamata, Àltima’s Head of Works and Projects, priority was given to environmentally friendly products and solutions. Local suppliers were selected, and materials with a lower carbon footprint were used. Àltima also opted for recycled or certified materials and considered various energy efficiency and savings criteria, such as a telematically controlled climate system with energy recovery and independent sector operation, comprehensive LED lighting, acoustic and thermal insulation, and the planting of native tree species (mainly flowering pear trees) with low irrigation needs.
