Barcelona, November 1, 2012.

Coinciding with All Saints' Day, the Tanatopèdia's Twitter (@tanatopedia) is launching the "My Epitaph" contest, inviting followers to propose words they would like to be remembered by or share famous epitaphs. The contest is promoted through a specific application on the Tanatopèdia's Twitter (@tanatopedia) with the hashtag #miepitafio and will be active until next Thursday, November 15. One lucky participant will be chosen at random to receive a voucher for purchasing books.

The "My Epitaph" contest aims to contribute to the dissemination of funeral culture in a participatory and respectful manner. It is the third initiative that Tanatopèdia has launched this year through its Twitter account. Last July, a contest was held for users to share the song they would like to be played at their funeral, and more recently, a photo campaign showcasing cemeteries from around the world.

Tanatopèdia: A Pioneer in the 2.0 Funeral World

With the goal of creating a reference point for learning and sharing aspects of funeral services and rituals, Serveis Funeraris Integrals (SFI) launched Tanatopèdia (www.tanatopedia.net) nearly two years ago, the first collaborative virtual encyclopedia on the funeral world globally. A year ago, Tanatopèdia expanded its presence in the 2.0 environment by joining social media with a Twitter account (@tanatopedia), where it now has over 300 followers. The profile provides daily interesting facts about the funeral world, famous obituaries, articles, intriguing anecdotes from other cultures, and quotes from notable figures.

Tanatopèdia aims to break the prejudices our society has about death and its surrounding aspects, making it something much more vital and relatable through knowledge. It offers information on various religious rituals, works of art, installations, and cultural customs introduced by users themselves.

Since its inception, Tanatopèdia has been well received and now features over 400 entries and 1,997 registered users, with a total of 234,796 visits.
