Next Tuesday, October 4, "The Flight of the Butterfly" will premiere, a groundbreaking television program in our country that reflects on the phenomenon of death from various viewpoints. The project has involved collaboration from several doctors, psychologists, funeral directors, and other professionals, as well as real-life witnesses, who have shared their experiences with death across the 13 episodes of the series.

The goal of 'The Flight of the Butterfly is to analyze, in an objective and optimistic manner, this event—death—that is a taboo for many people. We always avoid frivolity and easy tears," explains Joan Ferrer, one of its creators. Laura Ribes and Trini Gutiérrez complete the team that has dedicated nearly two years to producing the project.

The Flight of the Butterfly, which will be available online at www.elvoldelapapallona.com and on the Local Television Network (XTVL), has received support from Serveis Funeraris Integrals (SFI), a Catalan business group with over 300 years of experience in the funeral sector.

A necessary and diverse approach to death

The 13 episodes of "The Flight of the Butterfly" approach death through multiple personal and professional experiences. Topics covered include overcoming illness through real-life testimonies in "Facing Death and Overcoming It"; the daily work of professionals who deal with death in "Living with Death"; reflections on organ transplants in "An Organ, A Life"; and the daily life of cemetery workers in "The Secrets of a Cemetery."

In this regard, "The Flight of the Butterfly" "is a journey through feelings and emotions, a long journey where many people have shared their experiences and helped us appreciate the small things in life much more," acknowledges journalist Trini Gutiérrez. Philosopher and theologian Francesc Torralba, grief specialist Anji Carmelo, and psycho-oncologist Eva Juan are among the professionals who have participated in the project, alongside anonymous individuals who wished to share their experiences.
