L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, July 2, 2014

The mayor of L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Núria Marín, visited this morning the construction site of the future Tanatori L'Hospitalet Ronda, the second facility being built by the funeral group Àltima in the city. The work is already 60% complete, and the new facility is expected to be operational by the last quarter of 2014.

During the tour, which also included the presence of Àltima's Director of Funeral Services, Josep Ventura, and the group’s CEO, Jordi Viñas, the main areas of the new facility, located on Ramon Frontera Street next to exit 14 of the Ronda de Dalt, in the La Remunta area, were visited. The new Tanatori L'Hospitalet Ronda, designed by the architects Ribas & Ribas, will cover a built area of 6,812.57 m² spread over two basement levels, a ground floor, and two upper floors. It is notable for its curved facades with views over much of L'Hospitalet de Llobregat and Baix Llobregat. The facility will feature six funeral rooms—two of which will be larger or of significant size—located between the first and second floors, a multifaith chapel with a capacity for 200 seated people, office areas, and an underground parking lot with 60 spaces, one of which will have a charging point for electric vehicles. As with all the funeral homes managed by Àltima, energy-saving and environmentally friendly criteria have been taken into account, such as the projection of a ventilated facade—with an air gap between the brickwork and the final facade—the use of low-emissivity glass, the exploitation of natural light, low-consumption lighting, the application of a facility management system for complete optimization of consumption, and landscaping with native species requiring minimal water. The new Tanatori L'Hospitalet Ronda will reinforce Àltima’s services in the city, which also manages the Tanatori Crematori Gran Via L'Hospitalet in Bellvitge.

Mayor Núria Marín emphasized that “with the new Tanatori L'Hospitalet Ronda, the city gains a quality facility, a new service that also represents the creation of a new economic activity that will generate additional resources and create 10 new jobs in these challenging times.” She also highlighted that “today's visit confirms the good progress of the La Remunta ARE development. A year ago, the park opened and the first phase of urbanization was completed, and the entire area is now a new urban space used by the citizens.” On the other hand, Josep Ventura from Àltima expressed “the commitment to offer increasingly personalized services in suitable spaces, such as the funeral homes, created specifically to meet the needs of those going through a process of bereavement.”

Àltima, which has been serving L'Hospitalet for over 300 years, has invested 8.2 million euros in the construction of the new facility. Currently, the company manages a total of 26 funeral homes, 5 cremation complexes, and 16 cemeteries.
