The Sant Vicenç de Castellet City Council gives the green light to the construction of the funeral home to be located next to the cemetery
The City Council grants Fontanova the building permit, with construction set to begin this June, and the new facility will be operational by the end of the year
The Sant Vicenç de Castellet City Council has granted the public land use and building permits to Fontanova, the company responsible for constructing the new funeral home on land adjacent to the municipal cemetery. The council expects that this funeral company will start construction on the much-anticipated facility this June, with the funeral home being completed by the end of the year. Fontanova, part of the Àltima funeral group, will manage the facility. The construction period is set for seven months. In recent weeks, the City Council has facilitated the connection of basic water and electricity services to the site where the funeral home will be built.
Two Viewing Rooms
The facility will be constructed from prefabricated modules on an 800-square-meter plot and will be a single-story building. It will feature two viewing rooms with natural light and private courtyards, an interior central courtyard, and spacious, well-lit rooms for various uses (family support, rest area, offices).
Àltima is a Catalan family-owned company with over 300 years of experience in the funeral sector. In Catalonia, the company manages a total of 26 funeral homes, six of which are located in the Bages region (Fontanova in Manresa, Santpedor, Sant Joan de Vilatorrada, Abadal-Súria, Navarcles, and Cardona). Additionally, it manages five crematory complexes and 16 cemeteries, mainly in the Barcelona and Girona regions.
On one hand, Àltima’s office at the Hospital Clínic is located on the ground floor of the hospital and covers an area of 25 square meters. It is equipped with all the necessary elements to provide the best personalized service to families, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The new facilities at Sancho de Ávila 9, ground floor (directly in front of the funeral home), have an area of 62 square meters and include a reception area and three offices for family support. The office is open for in-person consultations from 8 AM to 9 PM, seven days a week.
In addition to the Barcelona centers and offices, Àltima manages other funeral homes in the metropolitan area: Gran Via L’Hospitalet in Bellvitge, Sant Boi, El Prat de Llobregat, Sant Just Desvern, Sant Joan Despí, Sant Vicenç dels Horts, Gavà, Corbera, Vallirana, and Pallejà. The company is also completing the construction of two new funeral homes, Hospitalet Ronda in the La Remunta area of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, and Viladecans, with openings planned for the last quarter of this year. In the metropolitan area, Àltima also has offices in various hospitals, such as Moisès Broggi in Sant Joan Despí and the Red Cross Hospital in L’Hospitalet. Additionally, it manages the comprehensive operations of the Roques Blanques Regional Cemetery in Papiol.
