Serveis Funeraris Integrals collaborates in the V AECPAL Conference
Barcelona, April 10, 2013.
As part of the V AECPAL Conference organized by the Spanish Association of Nursing in Palliative Care, which will take place on April 11th and 12th at the Hotel Fira Palace in Barcelona, Serveis Funeraris Integrals (SFI) is sponsoring the workshop "Advance Care Planning: The Advance Directive Document."
The workshop will feature presentations by Montserrat Busquets i Surribes, a nurse and Associate Professor of Ethics and Legislation at the School of Nursing at the University of Barcelona, and Ester Busquets i Alibés, a nurse and Director of the Department of Health and Social Action at the Faculty of Health and Welfare Sciences at the University of Vic.
The advance directive document, or living will, includes instructions provided by a person in a state of full mental capacity to be considered when, due to illness or another event that results in an incurable or irreversible physical or mental condition, they are no longer able to express their wishes. The palliative care nurse, as an expert in end-of-life healthcare, plays a key role in advising the patient and family in preparing this document.
