Sant Joan Despí opens its first funeral home
Sant Joan Despí, October 19, 2011.
This month saw the completion of the construction of Sant Joan Despí's first funeral home (Baix Llobregat), which will begin operations on Monday, October 24. The new funeral home in the city, built and managed by Serveis Funeraris Integrals (SFI), is located next to the municipal cemetery and will serve the over 32,000 residents of Sant Joan.
The new funeral home, with a total area of 926 m², features three fully equipped viewing rooms designed to ensure maximum comfort and privacy for users. The facilities also include a multifaith chapel with a capacity for approximately 100 people, open to a side patio that provides additional lighting and visual space. Additionally, the chapel features a skylight above the altar, allowing natural light to enter during the ceremony.
In addition to the spaces for family use, the new building includes private areas for assisting families and the funeral home's own services.
The new funeral facilities in Sant Joan Despí are architecturally adapted to the natural and landscape surroundings of the area. In this regard, the preservation of vegetation has been considered, and reforestation tasks have been carried out. Furthermore, improvements have been made to the access to the existing cemetery, including the addition of separate pedestrian and parking areas.
The Catalan group Serveis Funeraris Integrals, through its corporate entity Serveis Funeraris L’Hospitalet-Baix Llobregat, the concessionaire and promoter of the new funeral home in Sant Joan Despí, has invested €2.6 million in the construction of this facility, which is expected to serve approximately 160 families each year. The Sant Joan Despí City Council provided the land and handled the access construction.
