Àltima introduces a new space in the gardens of the Tanatori Ronda de Dalt in Barcelona for holding outdoor farewell ceremonies.

It is the first funeral home to offer such a service in the city, designed for people who want a more personalized funeral in a natural, tranquil, and intimate setting.

Outdoor ceremonies allow for the incorporation of elements such as music, reading of texts, or even catering services, ensuring a safe space for everyone at all times.

Barcelona, April 7, 2022. – This week, Àltima has introduced a new concept of funeral: outdoor farewell ceremonies. It is a new approach to saying the final goodbye to the deceased in an adapted outdoor space, located in the gardens of the Tanatori Ronda de Dalt in Barcelona (c/ Scala Dei, 17-37).

Àltima is the first funeral home in the city to offer such a service, allowing for a fully personalized celebration, whether religious or secular, in an outdoor setting in contact with nature. Like ceremonies in chapels, outdoor farewell events allow for the inclusion of elements such as live music, reading of texts, or even catering services for attendees. “Society is changing, including in relation to funeral rituals, so we must adapt and respond to the new needs and concerns of people experiencing a loss,” explains Montse Reymóndez, manager of Tanatori Àltima Ronda de Dalt. “In this sense, we see that more and more families want a different and unique farewell, an event where they can celebrate the life of the loved one in a more personalized and less traditional way, in spaces that provide them with peace and intimacy. The privileged environment of Tanatori Ronda de Dalt, surrounded by vegetation, allows us to have an ideal place for this type of ceremony.”

The new outdoor ceremony space at Àltima has a capacity for 100 seated people and a maximum of 500 standing, and it is prepared to provide an alternative indoor service in case of inclement weather, in the multifaith chapel adjacent to the gardens. Additionally, being a completely open space within the funeral home grounds, it represents a safe and low-risk option for users in the current pandemic context.
