Vilanova i la Geltrú, May 5, 2011

The renovation of the Vilanova i la Geltrú Funeral Home has been completed. Managed by Serveis Funeraris Integrals (SFI), the facility has undergone a complete overhaul of its façade and other exterior and interior elements. The total investment for the work carried out on the 730 m² façade and the 560 m² floor area was half a million euros.

According to Josep Ventura, Director of SFI's Funeral Services, "The renovation of the funeral home represents a significant improvement for the families in the city. The goal is to provide families with an accessible, comfortable space with all necessary services when they need them most." This renovation underscores SFI's commitment to the quality of its facilities and services, which are increasingly personalized and tailored to the needs of today’s society.

The Vilanova Funeral Home, which began operations in January 1996, serves the capital of the Garraf region as well as other towns in the area such as Canyelles, Olivella, Sant Pere de Ribes, Cubelles, and Cunit.

New Façade and Larger Wake Rooms

The renovation work at the Vilanova Funeral Home included updates to both the exterior and interior of the building. On the exterior, the façade has been completely remodeled, covered with white marble pieces with a sandy finish; the exterior carpentry on the ground floor has been replaced; and a new protective canopy has been installed at the building’s entrance and the oratory patio.

Inside the funeral home, the first floor has been entirely remodeled, transforming the previously existing four wake rooms into two large, more spacious rooms—one 56 m² and the other 66 m² with a 44 m² lobby—each equipped with its own restroom, wardrobe, and refrigerator. Additionally, the floor includes new family service offices with a waiting area; a vending machine area for drinks and snacks; and two display rooms for coffins and urns. A new, more comfortable climate control system has been installed, with independent systems for each room to ensure energy efficiency. The ground floor has also been renovated, including the flower display area.

With this renovation, the funeral home now has a total of six wake rooms: the two newly renovated on the first floor, plus the four that were already on the ground floor. The building also features an oratory for 100 seated people and a free parking lot with 30 spaces.
