The new cremation service is located at the funeral home managed by the Catalan funeral group in Ripoll and has involved an investment of 260,000 euros.

Ripoll, April 3, 2014.- The funeral group Àltima has launched the first cremation service in the Ripollès region. The crematorium, now operational, is situated in new facilities specially constructed for this service at the funeral home managed by the company in Ripoll through Pompes Fúnebres del Ripollès.

Cremation is an increasing demand in Catalonia, where it accounts for around 35%. In the Ripollès region, this trend is at 20% and is expected to grow in the coming years. According to Josep Ventura, General Director of Funeral Services at Àltima, “with this new crematorium, we can meet this need, avoiding long journeys for families requiring this service in the region.” The new incinerator has been installed in a 175 m² space adapted from the semi-basement of the funeral home, with a façade opening directly to the outside, allowing natural light to enter. The area includes five distinct zones: an entrance hall, a room for family members to wait, a room for viewing the introduction of the casket into the furnace, and a final room - housing the incinerator - for the exclusive use of the funeral home staff. Additionally, to facilitate family access to the new facilities, an elevator has been installed connecting the semi-basement, ground floor, and first floor of the funeral home. The construction of the new cremation service, which meets the strict environmental standards verified by the authorities, has seen an investment of 260,000 euros.

This new crematorium adds to the six others managed by the company in Catalonia: one at the Figueres funeral home, two at the Gran Via L’Hospitalet funeral home, one at the Sitges funeral home, and two at the Roques Blanques cemetery (El Papiol). With over 300 years of experience in the funeral sector, Àltima also manages 26 funeral homes and 16 cemeteries, mainly in the regions of Barcelona and Girona.
