Àltima inaugura el primer espai multiconfessional de Catalunya al Tanatori - Crematori Àltima Gran Via

The funeral company Àltima, a leader in Catalonia with over 300 years of family tradition in the industry, has inaugurated the first multifaith space this week at the Àltima Gran Via Funeral Home - Crematorium (L’Hospitalet, Barcelona). The new space features an independent reception area with direct access, an ablution room (for the ritual purification of certain body parts before a religious act), and two multifaith rooms: one for prayer with carpeting oriented towards Mecca and capacity for over 40 people, and another for performing rituals to wash the deceased.

The Catalan funeral company has developed this new space as part of its mission to provide excellence in service to all families residing in Catalonia, whether secular or following any religion.

The diverse cultures, religions, sensitivities, traditions, and rites encountered in Catalonia in the face of a common event like death require adapting funeral home and cemetery services to meet all sensitivities. Therefore, Àltima offers services to all families with new spaces like this, regardless of their religion, culture, or faith, and collaborates with various international congregations in Catalonia to ensure that ceremonies and burials meet all necessary needs.

Corporate Sensitivity Towards Diversity and Freedom of Beliefs

Regarding the inauguration of the first space of its kind in Catalonia, Àltima’s CEO, Joan Ventura, stated: “In a global context, and within a company that has always valued diversity and freedom of beliefs, it is essential to have appropriate spaces like this so that, in the difficult moment of bidding farewell to a loved one, families in Catalonia can find the best conditions to do so in accordance with their beliefs.”
