New funeral facilities in Pallejà

tanatorio

Sant Boi de Llobregat, February 2010.

This February, the new funeral facilities in Pallejà, located at the Cementiri Nou (New Cemetery), were opened. The facility, managed by Serveis Funeraris Integrals (SFI), has been expanded with a new building that includes a multifaith ceremony hall adjacent to the existing building, where the two viewing rooms have been completely renovated. The opening event of the new facility was attended by the mayor of Pallejà, Ismael Álvarez, and the CEO of SFI, Jordi Viñas.

With a built area of 276.90 m², the new funeral complex, situated next to the cemetery entrance, involved an investment of nearly half a million euros. The facilities will serve the communities of Pallejà and Fontpineda, with an estimated 40 services per year.

Adapted to new needs

Located next to the cemetery entrance, the Pallejà funeral facilities are open in all four directions and are divided into two areas: the new building for the chapel and the one housing the two viewing rooms.

The viewing room area is in a fully renovated single-story building with a new layout, allowing each room to have space for a refrigerated catafalque, a small dressing room, and a private area for the family. Thanks to the movable partition wall separating the two rooms, they can be combined into one larger space if needed.

The multifaith ceremony hall is located in a new square-shaped building accessible from the main cemetery road. Constructed with an exteriorly clad metal structure, it has a seating capacity for 90 people. Inside, it features linear wooden benches with an elevated altar for the officiant. This area includes a large skylight and side windows that allow natural light to fill the entire space.

The two areas are connected by a portico in a space that serves as a courtyard, designed in a zen style.
